Love it… who won? I’ve been thinking about getting a 50mm… I really need to decide on what camera I want next. I’m thinking something in the Mark 1 line. Gotta check to see if the lenses I have now will fit one of them. Anywho, great shot, musta been a quick snap.

Well, given the photo was taken at a herding instinct test … I’d say Stella “won.” She started out shy and somewhat reserved, then her prey drive kicked in and her natural instincts took over. For the dog that’s a win in my book. It’s such a privilege to be at one of these events and capture the whole process on my camera. Stella’s ten minutes in the round pen was one of the more magical and animated tests I’ve shot and I’d go so far as to say that I think she’s a very special girl. I posted a photo of Stella a while back, but in that picture she’s on the wrong end of a very nasty goose. It wasn’t all roses for Stella that day!

There outta be awards for picture titles. ‘Wassup?’ says it all. Pretty nifty you caught it with your 50mm, as Anna noticed. I under-use mine. All those moving animals are tough to get, but you caught them in a split second stare-down. Neat picture.

Glad you like this one!
In the tight confines of the round pen the 50mm lens was a winner. In the big arena it’s the 85mm or 70-200mm zoom, but the round pen is very tough to shoot … as you know!
Stella was an exceptionally fun subject to shoot. Her expression and animated approach to the sheep really stole my heart. Hands down, she was the unexpected shining star that day!

Got to love Grandpa there. He has seen many a dog come through the herding pen. At times when he is feeling his oats, he even thinks about taking on Rommel.

Grandpa was so cool with Stella! I caught some very precious moments that transpired between the two of them. We sure missed you that day … hope all is well with you and your gang!
Thanks for dropping by!
