Christmas Forgotten

Back around ten or fifteen years ago it seemed like anyone with a small plot of land planted a grove of Christmas trees. I think the idea was to make a little extra pocket change, or maybe some were looking for a tax break and thought Christmas tree “farming” was the way to go. After all, how hard could it be to raise up a few pine trees? Well, it’s harder than you think, and a lot of those small Christmas tree farms have long since been abandoned. I came across this once-upon-a-time Christmas tree farm on a pretty fall day and felt I had to take it’s picture. Invasive vines are starting to encroach and many of these nice little trees will soon be overcrowded and stunted. But on this day it looked like all they needed was a little TLC and they could be transformed into a bustling, picturesque farm where bundled up families would come to pick out their own perfect Christmas tree.

  1. Dear Cheryl,

Some of the photos in here are breath-taking, this one being a personal favorite. I only wish I were living in a setting as beautiful as the one you live in; the drawbacks of urban life.
